WORSHIP - MUSIC & ARTS

Music Ministry
Music is an essential part of the worship experience at Port Nelson. Opportunities are provided for vocalists and instrumentalists to contribute their musical talents.
Port Nelson Choir – currently not meeting
The Port Nelson Choir provides a wonderful opportunity to participate in the ongoing life of the Church through music and singing. Meeting regularly to rehearse on Thursday evenings from 7:30-9:30 p.m. and Sunday mornings prior to the service choir members enjoy music and camaraderie. In addition to weekly church services the choir has participated in special seasonal services and concerts as part of our effort to minister to the wider community. New members are always welcomed. Stillman Matheson, Director of Music. for more information.

Children´s Ensemble
Children sing in worship periodically under the leadership of Tania Laurie and accompanied by Fae Falls. The children also have the opportunity to learn to play hand chimes and other rhythm instruments.

Hand Bell Groups
With the recent purchase of a set of hand bells we have now established three hand bell groups, comprised mostly of beginners, which meet, respectively Mondays at 4pm, 6pm and 7:30pm. At the present there are a total of 26 ringers, which is remarkable for a new program such as this.
Ringing bells is an activity which many people find very satisfying and enjoyable, being at the same time musical, educational and social. Ringers meet once a week for rehearsal and perform on occasion in our services. Anyone interested in considering joining us is encouraged to contact Stillman Matheson at stillmanmatheson@portnelsonunitedchurch.com or to speak to him directly.
